2nd June 25: Today Kier Starmer announced that he would be raising our defence spending to 3% of GDP. Given the current global situation, is this anywhere near enough?

27th May 25 - Finland has a tiny population and a long and uncomfortable relationship with it's neighbour to the East that has resulted in several wars. It's recently joined NATO, it is armed to the teeth and prepared and it is right to be so.

12th May 25 - Putin is playing a game. When he calls for a ceasefire it is a calculated gamble designed to buy time and destabilise the west and the last thing on his mind is actually stopping the war, unless it is on his terms.

29th April 25 - Ukraine isn’t fighting for NATO. It’s fighting to survive an empire that stole its food, banned its voice, and kills to stay in power. Russia broke the Budapest deal, now it cries when Ukraine wants out. No sympathy for imperialists.

26th March 25 - Three months ago a war with the US would have seemed unthinkable, but then the world turned upside down. What would happen if the worst possible scenario occurred in Europe - A rump NATO fighting a 2 front war with Russia and the US. Even as recently as 2024 this was horror fiction. Now? Not so much.

18th March 2025 - So all the problems created by Russia and the US can be sorted out on a Teams call? - it's good to talk eh? There's only one thing, you don't have peace talks by carving up two continents without their permission. Everyone wants peace. The price of peace cannot be subjugation by dictators. This is doomed to failure before it has even started, and that if it wasn't designed to fail in the first place.
